In this course you will demonstrate procedures for preparing patients for dental X‑rays, assemble XCP instruments/eezee grip holders using traditional and digital equipment, perform radiographic surveys using both paralleling and bisecting techniques, processing, mounting and critiquing, while adhering to radiation safety precautions and infection control standards.

Hands-on skills and clinical patient dates take place in Pasadena.

This two part course combines online training with hands-on skills sessions to ensure greater flexibility, and protection for our students.

Note: This is a 32 hour course which includes 4 days of instruction. ALL participants will need 4 patients for the clinical examination.

Upon registration you will receive confirmation of your online course which must be complete before coming in to your first classroom session. The first two days of the course (Sat & Sun) will consist of laboratory practices on radiology manikins (4 sets of x-rays, processing, mounting, and critiquing). The next week you will take 3 full sets (18 x-rays) on 3 clinical patients in the setting of your own dental office. If taking X-Rays at your office is not possible, we can arrange for you to take X-Rays at our facility.  In total, you will need to take three digital X-Rays and one traditional film X-Ray.  The third day (Sat), you will perform your fourth and final clinical patient X-rays at our facility. If you took 3 digital X-Rays at your office, you will complete a film X-Ray at our office, if you took 3 film X-Rays at your office you will complete one digital. You must also provide all 3 patients’ X-Rays and evaluations from your previous clinical assignments when coming in on the last day.

All patients must meet the following acceptable criteria:

• 18 years of age

• Not pregnant

• Minimum of 20 teeth in dentition

Radiology requirement forms will be issued for each patient

Prerequisites:

Each participant must possess a current CPR/BLS card and show proof as evidence on first day of class. Click HERE for CPR!

32 CEU’s/hours will be provided after completion of course

This certificate received must be submitted to the Dental Board of California before taking the RDA examination.
